The treasures of the Languedoc Roussillon area south of France are not to be underestimated. With the Massif Central to the north and the Pyrénées Orientales to the south, this is one of the most breathtaking regions of France.

Le Cap d’Agde - unspoilt beaches and a large nudist colony.
Vineyards stretching into the distance produce the excellent wines this region is renowned for.

Sete - coastal town and Languedoc’s leading fishing port that produces superb seafood which can be enjoyed in one of the many restaurants along the seafront. Each summer they hold nautical jousting in the Vieux Port.

Carcassonne - with its walled ramparts is Europe’s largest medieval fortress.

Perpignan - near the Spanish border has a definite Catalan influence and holds fantastic carnivals during the summer months.

Montpellier - the Capital of the Languedoc, is a lively university town where you can relax in one of the many cafes and watch the world go by.

St-Guilhem-Le-Desert - a picturesque village situated in the gorge of the Hérault with a Romanesque abbey, precious gemstone shops and hand-blown glass.

Uzes - one of the most delightful and historic towns in the area. With a vast turreted castle in the town centre and arcaded streets. famous for its summer music festival.

Les Angles - the area’s largest ski resort with 32 pistes.

The Provence / Cote D’Azur region of the South of France has a diverse landscape - from the mountains of the alps in the north to the glittering Mediterranean in the south. A region famous for lavender fields, olive oil and soap - “savon de Marseille”. Beautiful items carved from olive wood can be discovered in the many markets as well as Herbs de Provence and honey produced from the nectar of lavendar and pine.

Aix-en-Provence - a major university city and cathedral town with cobbled streets and a beautiful flower market.

Marseille - the oldest city in France and a busy international port.

Avignon - a papal city with the Palais des Papes and the famous Pont d’Avignon that hosts Europe’s leading drama festival each summer.

Monaco - a principality still ruled by the Grimaldi family, famous for its grand casino in Monte-Carlo and the formula one grand prix. Also home to the Oceanographic Museum who’s director was Jacques Cousteau.

Nice - the capital of the Cote D’Azur, a university town with a definite Italian influence which can be seen in its baroque churches, flamboyant hotels and the world-famous Promenade des Anglais

.Les-Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer - capital of the Camargue and europe’s gypsy capital. Once a year they hold a huge clourful festival, coming in their thousands, with music, dancing and a night vigil at the 11 century church in honour of Sara, their patroness.

Cassis - An enchanting fishing port in a deep bay, sheltered by limestone cliffs. You can visit the Calanques from here by boat; deep fjord-like creeks with craggy limestone cliffs where nudists bathe on the ledges.

The Midi Pyrénées region of the South of France extends from the Massif Central in the north all the way to the Pyrénées and the Spanish border in the south and is as large as Denmark and larger than Belgium or Switzerland.

The Midi Pyrénées offers visitors a varied scenery and an equally varied range of activities from skiing to golf.

The major attractions and towns are:

The Canal du Midi - linking the Atlantic to the Mediterranean is the oldest European canal still in use.

Cordes - in the Tarn  was founded in 1222 and it was a new town of its time! Between 1280 and 1350, merchants and noble families built some magnificent residences with Gothic facades, for which Cordes is famous.

Lourdes - in the heart of the Pyrenees, receives more than 5 million visitors from all over the world every year.

Montségur - in the Ariège is famous worldwide for its château which dominates both the village and the valley.

Toulouse - France’s fourth largest city and the capital of the Midi Pyrénées.

Cahors - a thriving trading and university centre during the Middle Ages.

Montauban - the largest town in the Tarn-et-Garonne, know as the ‘pinkest of pink cities’.

Marciac - a 13th century Gascon bastide town is famous for its International Jazz festival held here every August.

Castera Verduzan - an interesting village with  thermal baths, a casino, horse racing and an inland lake with beach.

Pau - has plenty of history, an air of tranquil charm and a climate that has attracted visitors since the 1840's.
