Le Mans
- famous for its 24 hour motor race but with a lot more to offer, Le Mans is the birthplace of King Henry II and has an impressive cathedral with superb architecture.
Angers
- standing on the banks of the river Maine, Angers is a vibrant and busy city. There are many historical tapestries on display here and a wealth of old buildings and cathedrals.
Saumur
- the best horsemen in France were trained here at the cavalry school in 1763 to form le Cadre Noir (the Black Squadron). There is a castle which houses the arts museum and also a Musee de Cheval displaying the history of the horse.
Nantes
- used to be the capital of Brittany but is now the capital of the non-Breton Loire-Atlantique. There is a splendid castle - the Chateau des Ducs - which houses a museum of Breton culture and a maritime museum.
St-Nazaire - a port and industrial town that produces ships for the French Navy, it has a separate residential area. Nearby you will see the incredible that has been built.
