Accommodation: Gite Entrance from garden via split-level door leading into comfortable lounge/dining area with traditional terracotta floor tiles. TV, DVD, and a collection of books. Upstairs - pleasantly decorated and carpeted bedroom with en-suite shower room. Comfortable double bed with pine bedside cabinets, single bed and other furniture. En-suite is tastefully decorated with large shower, WC, heater and washbasin. The rooms are fully insulated for all year use and currently have central warm air and electric heating. |

House The main house to the left of the attached gite has a large double bedroom upstairs with oak beams and a large king-size bed and a single bed in the same room. An adjacent private bedroom contains two single beds. There is also a modern shower room, wash basin and wc upstairs with a wall heater. Downstairs a split level front door leads into the open plan kitchen / dining area with a gas cooker, sink and fridge/freezer. A further door leads into the separate lounge with a log fire, satellite TV, DVD player, comfortable settee and armchair. There is a telephone connection suitable for internet and email use (a small charge for use). |

Outside: There is a garden in front of the house in which to relax, enjoy the views or have a barbecue - table and chairs provided. The owners have their own horses on which children may have short lead rides (not trained for trekking just yet) and there are plenty of local horse treks around including a local horse and cart ride. |

Stables The property is set in 10 acres of which some is pasture with two stables for temporary accommodation of horses, if required. Available for clients searching for a French property or even permanently if you live nearby. Rates charged are £25 per week for pasture - stables £20. Cleaning, feed and treatments, etc are the responsibility of each horse owner, but cleaning charges may be charged if not kept clean. A local French vet and farrier are
available, farrier charges are similar to UK prices but the vet is generally cheaper than UK. Astronomy For those interested in astronomy or would like a quick introduction, the farmhouse is located high up in the Coevron hills and is ideal for good seeing with a clear sky and no light pollution. There is available a 200mm
reflector telescope which has auto-positioning and tracking facilities and a CCD allowing images to be captured with ease.
Chateau Foulletorte is only a short walk away with Sillé Forest just beyond. There is a large lake in the forest called Sillé Plage which has a sandy beach (with enclosed swimming for children - too shallow for adults) surrounded by a wooded area, ideal for fishing. There are several low-cost but good restaurants by the lake and also paddle boat hire, pony rides and fishing available. In the pleasant local town of Evron is the 11th - 16th century basilica church of Notre Dame de l’Epine and an adjoining convent. There are also some shops and bars to explore. Another nearby historic town is the Gallo-Roman town of Jublains (Noviodunum), with the largest site of Roman ruins in Western France. The pretty hilltop village of St Suzanne is also worth a visit for its historic buildings and pleasant surroundings. The town of Mayenne is about 20 minutes drive away, with its castle, river, good choice of bars and restaurants and plenty of free parking. The main town of Laval is further south, set on the banks of River Mayenne, it has a medieval castle which is home to the museum of ‘native art’ and a superb collection of marble works. Guided boat tours can be taken around Laval every day in July and August. |

The main attraction is Le Mans, with events such as the Le Mans 24 hour race in mid June, plus Grand Prix de France motorcycle race in May, the fête de l’automobile in September and the 24 hour truck racing in October [more information]. The Coevrons The property is situated in an area known as the “Coevrons” which encompasses the Mayenne and Sarthe regions. It combines historical heritage and unspoilt countryside with outdoor activities; all-terrain cycling or hiking in the hills and woods, horse riding along small country lanes, sailing or windsurfing on “Gue de Selle” lake, fishing in the fresh water rivers and ponds. Explore the amazing geological features of the canyon of Saulges with its two extensive subterranean caves, Rochefort and Margot discovered in 1967. Visit the Renaissance Chateaux of Bourgon and Roche Pichener in Saint Ouen des Vallons and the Rocher in Mézangers. |

Weekend rates apply to Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. We accept credit card payment. Bike hire is 35 euros per bike per week with a returnable deposit of 40 euros, payable at time of booking.
