The kitchen has all modern facilities, an island with a preparation sink, dishwasher, built-in oven, hob, large refrigerator, microwave and a second sink.
The kitchen window overlooks the patio and pools.

A washing machine and dryer can be found in the utility room.

There are two bathrooms on the ground floor with toilet, washbasins and shower cubicles.

The lounge area has sofas, Satellite TV, DVD, video, music centre and a collection of books.

Bedroom 1, upstairs, leads off the gallery. This room with exposed beams and views overlooking the front garden has two double beds, ensuite bathroom with a bath, separate shower unit, washbasin and toilet.

Bedroom 2, on the ground floor, has a double bed plus a single bed, exposed beams and a antique tiled floor.

Bedroom 3, in the south wing, is situated on the mezzanine floor overlooking the games room and has 3 single beds.

Bedroom 4, on the ground floor, with French windows opening onto a terrace with views to the pools and gardens has a double bed plus an extra single bed.

Bedroom 5, on the ground floor, with French windows opening onto the garden has four single beds and a wardrobe.

Outside

The patio and terraces are planted with colourful shrubs and plants, and there is plenty of garden furniture for eating 'al fresco'. A barbecue is provided.

The pools are exceptional, the main pool is 6m x 10m and has a sunken poolside bar and attached is a 3m children's pool making a haricot shape.

The games room has a snooker table and there is outdoor table tennis.

To the front of the house is a stone gravelled area, double gates leading onto a driveway, a double garage and plenty of car parking facilities.

The woodland garden is planted with shrubs and trees and at the end of the garden is a small lake.

The rear gardens and swimming pools are enclosed within a walled courtyard providing shelter and privacy.

Le Cedre guests are invited to visit our other complex The Grange [ref: 8514] in St Martin des Fontaines where they will have full use of the facilities on offer there. These include boules, outdoor backgammon and chess, indoor heated pool, snooker and pool.

Local area

La Rochelle is France's second largest boat building port and the historic Vieux Port remains largely unchanged. A daily fish market can be found in the old town until midday. The port is very attractive with waterside cafés and restaurants.

Futuroscope is situated near Poitiers, it combines latest cinematic developments with the entertainment and fun of a theme park.

Mervent is only a short drive ride from Le Cedre. It has a dam and a large reservoir. The area has been developed with tourism in mind. There are large wooded areas ideal for walking and particularly mountain biking. There are places where pedalos and wind surfers can be hired, and wind surfing lessons are offered. There are also restaurants, a small zoo and a very extensive fun park known as 'Pierre Brune'.

Fontenay-le-Comte, the nearest town, was the former capital of Lower Poitou and is the architectural pearl of the Vendée.

Venise Vert is the canal system the Vendée is famous for where small rowing boats can be hired (with or without guides). All the canals are completely covered with a very distinctive weed giving them the appearance of flat green land, hence the 'Venise Vert' name.

Puy de Fou is well worth a visit, by day there is a theme park which includes mediaeval jousting, villages with traditional crafts and actors dressed in the period of the day. The highlight is a twice daily display of falconry.

Île de Ré is a quiet island off La Rochelle, a new road bridge makes it accessible by car. It is picturesque and has numerous beaches, cafés, towns and parks.

Cognac is approximately 1½ hours drive south and well worth a visit.

Beaches in the Vendée are excellent, clean and sandy. The nearest are approximately 40km away and take a little under an hour to reach. There are three resorts next to each other on the coast, la Tranche-sur-Mer, l'Aiguillon-sur-Mer, and la Faute-sur-Mer. Les Sables-d'Olonne, a very popular resort, is 70km away and takes approximately 1½ to reach.

Golf - the Vendée is home to five golf courses:  Saint Jean de Monts, the Fontenelles course at Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, the Domangère course at La Roche sur Yon, the course at Port Bourgenay and also Olonne sur Mer.
