Two double bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite shower room with large walk-in shower, wash basin and WC.

First floor spacious twin bedroom with separate dressing area / seating area with sofa and washbasin.

Door leads from dressing area to shower room with WC.

Outside

Patio area with dining table, chairs and barbecue.

To the front of the cottage there is an area of enclosed lawn which is for the sole use of the cottage guests.

A barbecue is available and the apartment guests are able to use all pool facilities.

This apartment is available to rent normally for two people, although a comfortable sofa bed is situated in the lounge area.

Pool and garden

Situated to the rear of the properties is our 12m x 6m heated swimming pool. Roman steps face across the width of the pool in the shallow end, making it perfect for young children learning to swim.

The depth of the pool is 1.0m in the shallow end leading to 2.3m at the deepest point.

A 1.0m ledge runs all the way round the edge of the pool.

The pool is treated with a saline solution which is less harsh than chlorine-treated pools.

The pool is usually heated from April to the end of September and maintained at a temperature of ± 24°C.

There is a solar-powered shower on the pool surround.

A WC and wash basin is situated next to the pump room near the pool area.

There are a large number of sun-loungers, chairs, tables and sun-shades for use around the pool. For safety and legal purposes, the pool area is entirely fenced in.

We have a table-tennis table near the pool area for the guests use.

Beyond the pool area is a fenced-in grassed area - for younger children there are swings and a slide. We also have a full-size gravel petanque / boules pitch. Boules sets are available.

Beyond this is a large grassed field of some 4000m2 - suitable for ball games and kite-flying.

The English owners, Jean and Gordon Thorne, live on-site in a converted barn and will be on hand during your stay for any help / information you may require.

Local area

Le Haut Gué is situated in a small hamlet 1km from the village of Parcay-les-Pins in the département of Maine-et-Loire.

Parcay has a bakery, a butchers, a small well-stocked supermarket, post office, a restaurant and a café/bar.

There is a larger SuperU supermarket situated 9km away at Vernoil.

There is a (non-English speaking) doctor in Parcay and an English-speaking doctor and pharmacy are at Gizeux, 6km away.

The village of Parçay-les-Pins is home to a small but excellent museum dedicated to the works of the sculptor Jules Desbois, who was born in the village.

Half an hour’s drive away, on the banks of the Loire, is the town of Saumur, dominated by its picturesque chateau, which rises above the winding streets and medieval houses of the old city centre.

The town is a major centre for equestrianism - the Cadre Noir are based here - and is also home to a tank museum.

The cities of Tours, known for its fine food and wines, and Angers, a city combining provincial charm with a certain sophistication, are approximately 45 minutes by car to the east and west respectively.

Le Mans, with its attractive Old Town, automobile museum and 24 Hour race (June) is also less than an hour away.

There are many beautiful châteaux within easy reach, some of the more well-known ones being Villandry, Azay-le-Rideau and Ussé, the castle that inspired Sleeping Beauty.

The Abbey at Fontevraud dates from 1101 and was once the richest and most important monastery in France and is also the burial place of the English Plantagenet kings.

The banks of the Loire are home to a great many vineyards, in particular the fine reds of Saumur-Champigny. The local sparkling wines are also excellent.

Slightly further afield, near Poitiers, approximately 1½ hours drive, is Futuroscope, a high-tech film theme park.

For families with young children there is Holly Park, a low-key but excellent mini-theme park at Baugé (15km).

Golf courses - the Château des Sept Tours, an 18 hole course set in the grounds of a beautiful château, is 12km from Parcay, there are also good courses at Baugé-Pontigne (15km) and at Sablé-Solesmes.

All electricity and fuel costs are inclusive, apart from out-of-season (winter) stays, where a separate price for fuel may be applicable.

We provide all linen, including bed linen and tea-towels. We do not provide pool / beach towels.

High chairs and cots are available - please indicate that you require these prior to your arrival.

Please note that we do not provide bed linen for the cots.

Bed and Breakfast is available in any of the above properties when they are not in use.
We charge 50 euros per room (2 persons) per night.
