Fully fitted kitchen with gas hob, electric cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and all utensils plus a dining area.

The main living area provides of an open plan lounge and dining area which is comfortably furnished and carpeted. There is a mini hifi, a French television, a video recorder and DVD player, also an assortment of board games and puzzles.

There is an automatic washing machine in the basement.

Outside

The garden is mainly down to grass. If there is any fruit ready, please feel to pick it for your use during your stay.

There are lounger chairs, patio furniture, a charcoal barbecue, boule and badminton sets, a table-tennis table and some bikes.

Local area and activities

There are some very nice and easy bike rides locally, and in walking the area is delightful.

In Gennes there are two boulangeries, a boucherie/charcuterie and an excellent supermarket.

The river activities are numerous and suit a wide range of tastes. There is good fishing to be found, water skiing and cruises along the various stretches of the river.

There is a golf course within half an hour's drive at St Jean de Mauvret and other courses within reach.

There are two open-air swimming pools close to Besse. One in Gennes and the other in Les Rosiers.

The area around Besse is dotted with Dolmens - these are like French mini versions of Stonehenge.

A number of towns and cities lie within easy reach of Besse. It is a short journey to both Saumur and Angers where there are numerous shops and local tourist attractions.

There is much to see and explore in Angers - including the home of Cointreau liqueurs.

Angers boasts a magnificent fortress which guards the approaches to the city. Inside it houses many fine tapestries of 12th and 13th centuries and also the 72 panels of the tapestry of the Apocalypse.

A major feature of the area around Saumur are the fascinating troglodyte caves which offer lots of scope for a variety of visits for the whole family encompassing underground museums, mushroom caves, wine cellars, restaurants and even a zoo which are all given a different slant because of their unusual setting.

Further afield but well within reach for day trips are Nantes, Tours and Poitiers.

Poitiers is particularly interesting with its history, and has the theme park Futuroscope just north of the city.

Paris is only 3 hours by autoroute or less by TGV from Angers.
