The area
Lourmarin - ‘one of the most beautiful villages in Provence’.
Situated in the heart of the Luberon Natural Regional Park, Lourmarin has long been famous for its scenic beauty and unusual history. The village lies on the southern side of the mountains, at the entrance to the pass
separating the ‘Petit’ Luberon from the ‘Grand’ Luberon. It is an ideal base from which to explore Provence - in particular the hidden valleys and hilltop villages of the Luberon.
Day trip destinations can include the 13th century Cistercian Abbey of Senanque, the celebrated medieval villages of Gordes and Bonnieux and the ochre quarries and ochre-coloured houses of Roussillon.
Avignon - the walled city with its Papal Palace.
Aix-en-Provence - with tree-lined boulevards, sidewalk cafes and designer boutiques.
Arles - with its Roman amphitheatre and medieval cathedral.
The Camargue - a National Park and Wildlife Reserve where you will find horses, Provençal cattle and pink flamingoes. The Camargue offers some of the best beaches in Provence.
Wine lovers can visit the famous Côtes-du-Rhône vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras.
Isle-sur-la-Sorgue - with its world famous antiques market is nearby.
