Accommodation The newly renovated, self contained gîte at Ouismes, comprises a large, comfortably furnished sitting room with a cosy wood stove for the winter months. There is a fully equipped kitchen in the corner with electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge. The open plan staircase takes you up to a large double bed room with en suite shower room and WC. There is a large window on the stairwell bringing plenty of light and a small one overlooking the garden and valley below. There is a cot and folding bed suitable for a baby, toddler or small child. |

Outside Outside there is a large terrace with table and chairs, a border of fresh herbs, flower beds, a lawn and an off-road private parking space. The whole garden and terrace is enclosed by a fence. Guests are invited to enjoy the owners’ ‘child free’ pool and terrace during the day. Two bikes are also available. Depending on the season there is also produce from the garden for sale. |

Local area Chef Boutonne - 10 minutes away - is the local town with all amenities. Excellent regional produce can be found in all our local markets. Melle - 30 minutes - is home to the famous Silver Mines of the French Kings, a 6km nature walk with over 200 species of rare trees and 3 Romanesque churches. The beautiful port of La Rochelle and the Atlantic coast are approximately an hours drive away. There are beaches at La Rochelle, Ile de Ré, Fouras and Royan. Take a day trip to visit the harbour town and ancient military base of Rochfort, the Roman town of Saintes or the brandy distilleries of Cognac. There is an excellent indoor swimming complex and leisure centre at St Jean d’Angely. The nearest airports are at Angouleme, La Rochelle and Poitiers |
