	Typical detached French farm cottage with pool and enclosed garden. This holiday cottage is set in the pretty hamlet of Ouismes, near Crézières, 4 miles from Chef-Boutonne, in rural Poitou-Charentes.

Ground floor

Large kitchen with free-standing units, good quality appliances, 4-ring gas cooker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and large farmhouse table seating 8.

Living room - this cool and comfortable room with a sofa and chairs is equipped with books, maps, games and a toy box for the children.

Garden room - a pleasant quiet room which is useful if there are two families sharing.

Large hallway with stairs to the first floor.

First floor

Bedroom with double bed and a cot.

Large bedroom with double bed and a single bed.

Large children’s bedroom with 4 beds.

Bathroom with antique French bath, shower cubicle, sink and WC.

Outside

The property is set in its own private walled garden and has a patio area with table, chairs, parasol, loungers and a barbecue.

There is a 15ft splash pool for cooling off.

A selection of bikes for adults and children are available.

Ample parking space.

There is a field opposite for ball games etc.

Local area

The local countryside is abounding with wildflowers and wildlife, the roads are ideal for walking and cycling and there are picnic spots in most villages.

There is swimming in fresh water lakes.

A traditional market can be found every day of the week in a local village or town.

The market town of Chef-Boutonne, 4 miles away, has shops and restaurants.

Melle - 30 minutes - is home to the famous Silver Mines of the French Kings, the town is steeped in history with its three churches especially Saint Hilaire (a world heritage site) which is situated on the Saint Jacques de Compostelle pilgrimage route. The churches date back to the 11th and 12th centuries.

La Rochelle and the Atlantic coast are approximately an hours drive.

There are beaches at La Rochelle, Ile de Ré, Fouras and Royan.

Days out can be taken to the ancient port at Rochfort, Saintes or Cognac and the brandy distilleries.

There is an excellent indoor swimming complex at St Jean d’Angely.

Prices include bed linen, towels, gas, electricity*, water and cleaning.
*An extra charge will be made for electricity during low season.

A welcome arrival pack of bread, milk, tea and coffee is also included.
