	A delightful stone and colombage cottage, tastefully restored to retain its character and original features with a private, south-facing garden. The property is set in a well-kept hamlet in the countryside 4km from the small market town of Ranes in southern Orne. This is a beautiful, unspoilt region with pretty floral villages, forests and medieval towns to explore.

Accommodation

The ground floor accommodation is light and airy, open-plan with exposed stonework and beams.

There is a comfortable sitting room area with two large sofas, satellite TV, DVD and CD players and wood burning stove.

The dining area provides seating for four and the kitchen area is well equipped with washing machine, gas oven/hob, fridge and microwave.

The first floor comprises two bedrooms, one double, one twin and shower room with new fittings; toilet, shower, washbasin and heated towel rail.

The cottage also contains antique pine furniture and is beautifully decorated with Laura Ashley furnishings throughout.






	Outside The cottage has a fully enclosed garden to the front with double gates and parking for two cars. It also benefits from a south-facing rear garden, with views of the surrounding countryside. Garden furniture and barbecue are provided. The property enjoys a peaceful location, being situated in a quiet country lane.

The area

The area of southern Orne has much to offer those who enjoy outdoor activities.

Fishing is a popular pastime, due to the many lakes and rivers in the region.

Walkers and cyclists enjoy the many sign-posted routes through the countryside and forest tracks.

Horseriding, rock climbing and canoeing are also available locally.

The famous spa town of Bagnoles de l’Orne offers a wide variety of sporting facilities, including golf, tennis and swimming, as well as thermal treatments.

Water sports are available on the lake at La Ferté Macé, which also has an indoor swimming pool.

There is also a large number of places of historical interest to visit locally, including medieval chateaux, museums and abbeys.

The D-Day landing beaches and Mont St Michel are one and a half hours’ drive away.
