The gentle slopes of the Pyrenees are the perfect place to enjoy family skiing for the first time.
Compared to the Alps the risk of avalanches or falling into a crevasse is minimal.
Snowboarding is well catered for in virtually all the resorts of the Pyrenees.

Resorts

Font-Romeu - one of Europe’s oldest winter resorts and a perfect base for beginners and families. Font Romeu attracts skiers from Spain as well as France. It has the biggest snow-making operation in the Pyrenees. Most of the local runs are short and flat.  38 runs, 26 lifts, cross country 25km, 1 sledging slope.

‘Les Neiges Catalanes Area’ incorporates 10 ski stations on one pass and includes the ski resorts of Font Romeu, Err Puigmal, Eyne, Formigueres, Les Angles, Pyrenees 2000, St Pierre del Forcats and Porte Puymorens.

Cambre D’Aze - is a single pass resort with 35km of runs and guaranteed snow due to 164 snow guns.
Cambre D’Azez is ideal for novices with 2 special beginners areas incorporating 8 green runs with very gentle lifts. This resort offers peaceful skiing on tree-lined pistes with a lack of queues. Intermediate skiers will be challenged by the narrower pistes with a variety of gradients.
There is a small park set aside for snowboarders.
Other than skiing there is snowshoe hire, horse riding, thermal baths, swimming, skating, bowling, cinemas, casinos and dog sledding.

Puigmal 2600 - a resort with long black runs plunging down the mountainside.

Porte Puymorens - is a typical Catalan mountain village offering family skiing for all levels on well prepared wide slopes.

Les Angles - nearest to Mont-Louis this is the area’s largest and most advanced ski resort with 32 pistes of which more than half are red runs. 19 lifts, cross country 40km.

Surrounded by forests and lakes this resort has many other activities to offer.

Formigueres - is ideal for cross-country skiing where you can discover little-known valleys and spectacular views. 17 runs, 7 lifts.

Puyvalador - including off piste skiing along panoramic trails through a huge forest in completely natural surroundings facing the Puy Valador lake. 17 runs, 7 lifts, 1 sledging slope.

Mijanes Donezan - 1530 - 2000m 10 runs, 5 lifts, cross country 25km, 1 sledging slope.

Luchon-Superbagnères is one of the smaller ski stations in the area. The village of Luchon is separated from the resort of Superbagnères by 17km of road or an 8 minute aerial tram ride. 28 runs, 1 sledging slope, 1 snow park and 1 kids area.

Peyragudes offers good facilities for all standards of skiers and snowboarders with 45km of lift served runs, 15km of cross country trails and the resort features a snowpark.

Saint-Lary is a very picturesque resort, great for walkers as well as skiers with 53 pistes. It provides family skiing including snow kindergarten, toboggan run and a 'Kidpark', a snowpark aimed at young skiers aged between 6 and 12 years.

Boutx Le Mourtis is a small family resort with tree lined pistes in the forest of Boutx. 20 pistes, 10 lifts, sledging slope and snow park.
