Local area Thanks to its central location in the heart of Provence, Rocher Pointu is near to many activities including horseback riding, golfing (18 holes), and canoeing. Avignon - 12km - with its famous bridge and the Palace of the Popes. Les Baux-de-Provence - 35km - an historical village with wonderful views over the city of Arles and the Camargue region. Arles - 35km - was founded by the Romans and is associated with the memory of Van Gogh. Arles is the gate to the Camargue, a large natural park where you will find pink flamingos, migratory birds and of course bulls and horses. Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer - 80km - welcomes each year a famous Gipsy pilgrimage. The town is located by the sea with wide beaches along the Mediterranean sea. Saint-Rémy-de-Provence - 30km - is the town where Nostradamus was born in 1503. Uzès - 35km - is one of the most charming towns in the south east of France. Orange - 30km - has a perfectly kept Roman Amphitheatre. Nîmes - 30 km - is a city known for its Roman Arenas and wonderful 18th century garden. Pernes-les-Fontaines - 35 km - is a small village between Luberon and Mont Ventoux, where walking down the streets you will find 36 fountains. Aix-en-Provence - 80km - is a spa town well known for its 11th century Cathedral. Marseille, which is the departure for a one-day maritime excursion to the Chateau d’If and the Calanques’ warm water fjords. The Luberon mountain range - 40km - is the setting of Peter Mayle's book “A Year in Provence”. Mont Ventoux - 70km - is known as "the giant of Provence". From its summit, it is often possible to see the Mediterranean to the south or Mout Blanc in the Alps to the north. |
