Both gîtes are supplied with hairdryers and ironing facilities. Both are child-friendly with a range of equipment for young children on request, such as cot, travel cot, high chair, stroller, stair gate, plastic cutlery/cups/bowls, monitors and toys.
Both gîtes have their own outdoor areas with garden tables and chairs, umbrellas, sun loungers and barbecues. Available on-site are table tennis, badminton, boules, children’s swings and climbing rope. A circular, inflated swimming pool is available for everyone’s use to cool off in the summer heat. There are plenty of trees around to offer shade from the hot summer sun. |

Local area and activities The local villages of Couiza and Esperaza have all necessary facilities, including patisseries, tabacs, local grocery store, restaurants, café bars, hairdressers, beauty salons, and taxi service. There is also a supermarket, boulangeries, butchers, pharmacies, post office and a large doctor/dentist medical centre. Limoux - 15 minutes - is quite renowned for staging the world’s longest running Carnival which takes place from mid-January to the end of March each year. It a musical culture and has a piano museum. The central square is full of restaurants and cafés. Carcassonne - 40 minutes - walled, fortress city of Carcassonne with a fairy-tale appearance, museums, and maze of tiny streets filled with restaurants and craft shops. There are many restaurants within a short drive in Alet-Les-Bains, Rennes-Les-Bains and Quillan. The famous Canal Du Midi passes through the centre of the new town of Carcassonne and the surrounding countryside can be enjoyed from boat trips along the canal. There is a man-made lake with a small beach and picnic tables under the shade of the trees at Arques only 25 minutes away. Lac du Montbel - 45 minutes - has all water based activities including wind-surfing and, water-skiing. Beaches - there is a selection of beaches at Narbonne and along the coast. There are heated swimming pools at Alet-les-Bains and Rennes-les-Bains. Golf - 18-hole courses at Carcassonne, La Barouge Golf Club in Mazamet and 3 courses in Toulouse (one and a half hours away). Thermal Spa Treatments – Alet-Les-Bains and Rennes-Les-Bains both offer thermal spa treatments including aromatherapy massage and a range of beauty treatments, for total relaxation and have outdoor heated swimming pools; both are only 20 minutes drive away. Skiing – there are many local family orientated ski runs with the nearest being Camurac at only 40 minutes drive. Andorra with its many ski resorts and duty free shopping is a 2 hour drive. Spain - the border is only 90 minutes drive away and Barcelona is less than 3 hours. |
