Le Marron   - an open plan, single storey gîte.

The kitchen area is equipped with gas oven & hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, coffee maker and toaster.

The living area includes a double sofa bed, two armchairs, satellite TV, DVD and CD system. French doors lead to the patio and main garden area.

Double bedroom and a twin bedroom with two single beds that can be exchanged for a double.

Separate bathroom with shower, sink and toilet.

Both gîtes are supplied with hairdryers and ironing facilities.
A range of board games for all ages are available.
Information packs are available in both gîtes with brochures on all activities available in the area.

Both are child-friendly with a range of equipment for young children on request, such as cot, travel cot, high chair, stroller, stair gate, plastic cutlery/cups/bowls, monitors and toys.

Soon a professional telescope will be made available to guests, so you’ll be looking at unpolluted skies and the stars will be yours.

Outside

Both gîtes have their own outdoor areas with garden tables and chairs, umbrellas, sun loungers and barbecues.

Available on-site are boules, children’s swings, climbing rope and a wonderful treehouse.

A circular swimming pool is available for everyone’s use to cool off in the summer heat.

There are plenty of trees around to offer shade from the hot summer sun.

We own four super friendly donkeys who will soon be trained to accompany you on your hikes on the numerous hiking trails (GR) that lead to the Cathar legacy and that are just seconds away.

Local area and activities

The local villages of Couiza and Esperaza have all necessary facilities, including patisseries, tabacs, local grocery store, restaurants, café bars, hairdressers, beauty salons, and taxi service. There is also a supermarket, boulangeries, butchers, pharmacies, post office and a large doctor/dentist medical centre.

There are many Cathar castles, for example: Peyrepertuse, Puivert, Coustaussa, Puilaurens, Montsegur, Queribus, Termes, Aguila, Arques, Pieusse, Le Bezu and Usson.

Puivert – a small airport where you can book a flight in a ULM or in a hang glider.

Limoux - 15 minutes - is quite renowned for staging the world’s longest running Carnival which takes place from mid-January to the end of March each year. It has a musical culture and has a piano museum. The central square is full of restaurants and cafés.

Carcassonne - 40 minutes – “La Cité”: the walled, fortress city of Carcassonne with a fairy-tale appearance, museums, and maze of tiny streets filled with restaurants and craft shops.

There are many restaurants within a short drive in Alet-Les-Bains, Rennes-Les-Bains and Quillan.

The famous Canal du Midi passes through the centre of the new town of Carcassonne and the surrounding countryside can be enjoyed from boat trips along the canal.

There is a man-made lake with a small beach and picnic tables under the shade of the trees at Arques only 25 minutes away.

Lac du Montbel - 45 minutes - has all water based activities including wind-surfing and water-skiing.

Beaches - there is a selection of beaches at Narbonne or Perpignan and along the coast.

There are heated swimming pools at Alet-les-Bains and Rennes-les-Bains.

Golf - 18-hole courses at Carcassonne, La Barouge Golf Club in Mazamet and 3 courses in Toulouse (one and a half hours away).

Thermal Spa Treatments – Alet-Les-Bains and Rennes-Les-Bains both offer thermal spa treatments including aromatherapy massage and a range of beauty treatments, for total relaxation and have outdoor heated swimming pools; both are only 20 minutes drive away.

Skiing – there are many local family orientated ski runs with the nearest being Camurac at only 40 minutes drive.

Andorra with its many ski resorts and duty free shopping is a 2 hour drive.

Spain - the border is only 90 minutes drive away and Barcelona is less than 3 hours.

Friendly pets are welcome but a supplementary cleaning charge of €35
will be added to the total rental.
