This comfortable house, Le Mirador, is perched above the Dordogne enjoying spectacular views of La Roque Gageac and across the valley to Domme.

The village of La Roque Gageac, has lots of good restaurants and cafes, bread, wine, ice-cream and gift shops, post office and a network of charming cobbled alleyways.

The famous town of Sarlat is only 6 miles away and the beautiful bastide town of Domme is 3 miles away.

With Castlenaud, Beynac and Marqueyssac even closer, you won't find a better base from which to explore the area.

The village itself has lots of lovely cafes and restaurants, bread, gift and wine shops.

The river is only a short stroll away so there is no shortage of places to swim and picnic.

Canoe hire and boat trips are available from the village and there is a wealth of beautiful walks and cycle routes nearby.

When you can tear yourself away from the terrace there's a whole valley to explore. Or perhaps you'll just want to stay and watch the river roll by with a glass of wine.

Nearest airports are Bergerac (40 miles), Brive (50 mile), Limoges, Rodez and Toulouse (100 miles) and Bordeaux (115 miles).

The beautiful village of Beynac (2 miles) is a popular film location (Chocolat).

The chateau and gardens of Marqueysseac (2 miles) has beautiful topiary gardens and woodland walks with stunning views of the surrounding area. Great for all ages with its adventure playground, children's crafts and via ferrata.

Chateau des Milandes (5 miles) once the home of the entertainer Josephine Baker has a fascinating exhibition of her life, beautiful gardens and falconry displays.

The beautiful town of Sarlat (6 miles) is famous for its markets, music and theatre festivals

Domme (4 miles) is another of France's 'most beautiful villages' - a bastide village with a cave system to visit.

A 15 mile drive will take you to the Unesco World Heritage site of the Vezere Valley which has 147 prehistoric sites and 25 painted or engraved caves dating from the Paleolithic era.
