Kermavio, four stone cottages in the heart of the beautiful Brittany countryside, is less than 3km from Cléguérec and about 8km from Pontivy. Kermavio is ideal for the countryside lover. This corner of rural Brittany seems like returning to the peace and tranquillity of an England long since gone.

Kermavio Gites in the heart of Brittany

The Old House

The centrally heated Old House has an eccentric layout and no two rooms seem to be on the same level.

The living room has a three-seater sofa and easy chairs and features an inglenook with a small but ornamental woodburner. The cosiness of this room is completed by table lamps, in place of overheads, and a total absence of television. It does have a CD player, however, and a selection of games.

A lovely chestnut staircase leads from the living room to the double bedroom with its polished floorboards and wonderful views across the fields.

The good-sized shower room - with walk-in shower - is also on this floor.

Steps down from the living room lead through a low granite Napoleonic arch to the kitchen/dining room. The well-equipped built-in kitchen has acres of cupboard space, a double bowl sink, fridge, gas hob with hood above, built-in mini-oven and microwave, coffee maker and a kettle. A farmhouse table will seat six with ease.

From the kitchen is the back lobby, which houses the freezer.

Off the lobby are the downstairs W.C. and the utility room with washing machine.

From the kitchen, a second staircase leads to the first floor where you will find an extensive library and  the twin, semi-mezzanine bedroom.

The Old House is probably unsuitable for younger children.

The cottage has a small rear garden and to the front is a sunny patio area with garden furniture and you are invited to make use of all our gardens.

The Cider House

A double glazed, spacious gîte conveniently arranged on the ground floor.

An internal porch leads, through a glazed door, into the spacious and airy living/dining room which is furnished with twin sofas facing one another across a coffee table and a dining table and chairs. A CD player is provided as is a selection of books and games.

The fitted kitchen is well equipped with a full size gas cooker with hood, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and a kettle.

A large double bedroom with ample room for a cot or occasional bed. The bedroom furniture, like the furniture in the rest of the gîte, is solid pine.

Large shower room.

A cot, occasional bed, high chair and buggy are available if required.

A washing machine for your exclusive use is in the laundry room, which is in the big barn.

Shippern

The Shippern provides a spacious, single storey gîte for a couple and is entered via a triple French Window.

A well equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, well-lit tiled surfaces and a double sink.

The living/dining room (5m x 4m) has a cushion-laden four-seater sofa as well as a deep armchair.

The spacious bedroom has an en-suite shower room.

Throughout The Shippern, the hard furnishings are solid pine.

Although we offer a respite from TV, we do provide a CD player and reasonable selection of books, jigsaws and board games.

Central heating and double glazing will ensure your comfort in the cooler months.

A washing machine is available to you in the laundry room in the big barn.

The barn also provides undercover parking for your car.

Outside is a patio area with garden furniture.

You are invited to use and relax in our award winning gardens.

Local area

Cléguérec - 3km - has banks, bars, boulangeries, restaurants, supermarket and a charcuterie. It also has a sports centre offering various amenities including tennis courts.

Walkers and cyclists of all levels of experience will enjoy exploring the myriad of routes available. Those through the Forêt de Quénécan have been popular with our guests.

Within the Forêt de Quénécan - 15 minutes - lies the large Lac de Guerlédan, a man-made lake with three small sandy beaches which provide safe bathing.

Boats, canoes and pedaloes can be hired and boat trips are available.

Closer than the lake is the Nantes-Brest Canal, 4km away. At its nearest point to us, the Nantes-Brest Canal is also the River Blavet. They remain one and the same until Pontivy where they part company.

Pontivy is a thriving market town offering a variety of shops, restaurants and cafés.

Further afield are a seemingly endless supply of towns and villages just oozing with history and tradition.

Fishing opportunities abound in this area with various rivers, lakes and the canal.

For golfers, there are over a dozen good 18-hole courses within an hour of us and a 9-hole course within half an hour.

Superb beaches are within easy reach from Kermavio.
