3-star Gîte in the Puy-de-Dôme, Auvergne, central France

Accommodation

The gîte has three bedrooms with separate toilet and shower room.
The bedrooms - two twins and one double - all would accommodate a further small child in a travel cot.

On the first floor is and open plan kitchen / living / dining area
This leads to a south facing terrace with unspoilt views over the local mountains.

The gîte is fully equipped and electrically heated.

There is a sofa bed in the main living area which can if required accommodate a further two people.
Travel cots are available but must be requested at the time of booking.
 

Pets are welcome. The owners have a few themselves - dogs, cats, ducks, goats, peacocks and a pony.

Bikes are available for you to enjoy the local area rather then taking the car.

A starter pack containing basic food items is available so you can have something to eat and drink if you arrive late for supper and also for breakfast before the supermarket opens. Pricing on request.

Activities and the local area.

Coisse / Montis - The small French village 2km from Arlanc.

Parc Naturel Regional du Livradois-Forez - An area of outstanding beauty with a volcanic region and many mountains.

Clermont-Ferrand - 80km.

St Etienne - 60km.

Rock climing at Job and also paragliding.

A touristique train with raised observation area runs throughout the summer.

There are many rural walks from the gite.

At La Chaise-Dieu (the chair of God) there is a wonderful abbey, a wood museum, a wax museum and many cafes.

Just north of Ambert is an area for ski de fond (cross country skiing) with peaks at over 1500m and good tracks in winter.

The ‘Plan d’Eau’ 1km from Arlanc has an open air swimming pool and tennis courts.
In Ambert there is an all year covered swimming pool with slides.

In Le Puy en Velay are three volcanic plugs overlooking the town, built on top of these is a Madonna with child, a monastery and the third has a church.

In the Nature Park of the Volcanoes there are two very good skiing areas - Super Besse and Le Mont Dore.
In the summer the lifts are open for visits to the summit.

* Christmas and New Year will be 2 x 10 day breaks to avoid travel on either Christmas or New Year’s day.
