Accommodation

You will find your home from home in luxuriously decorated safari tents (35m2) with wonderful comforts including comfortable beds, fluffy bath towels and privacy.

We have 6 tents and can accommodate a maximum of 20 people staying with us at a time.

Each tent has its own personal veranda with seating.

Lighting in your tent is solar powered and each tent has its own bathroom (shower, toilet and sink) located just a few steps away.

One of our tents and its bathroom are accessible for handicap people.

Outside

For children there is a play area and a lot of space to run around as well as lots of things to discover on our land.

There is a separate lounge area with large couches and a beautiful view.

Shared saltwater swimming pool with a wooden pool deck with sun beds and canvas sun sails.

The swimming pool, shared in summer with the Simply Canvas Gite guests (ref. 4719), is quietly situated away from the tents between a wildflower prairie, lavender field and verdant vineyard.

A spacious outdoor terrace overlooks the pool and fields.

Shared use of electric bicycles.

Owners/hosts Sandra and Santi live in a separate house on the property.

The property, 5 hectares of natural grounds, gardens, pond and prairie, features an organic garden, abundance of fruit trees, hazelnuts and walnuts.

Workshops and retrteats

During the months of June and September we have some lovely workshops and retreats.

There are special weeks for singles, women and writing workshops and week for yoga and walking.

Family week 17-24 July 2010 - we are organising a family week especially for parents and children together.

Simply Canvas as a venue for your workshop?

The silence and beauty of the surroundings and the comfortable accommodation creates the perfect environment for workshops in many different areas such as painting, photography, sculpture, yoga or meditation retreats or even a weekend of brainstorming for executives.

We are very happy to open up our home to people who wish to hold their own workshop or training in France. Simply Canvas has been set up in such a way that we can easily accommodate 20 people in our tents. There is a large indoor group space available (110m²) suitable for group activities and a small one if necessary. There is a second house available to rent with your workshop and of course our 5 hectares of land and garden are open for many different outdoor activities.

Local Area

Saint Jean de Duras is a small village in the Aquitaine region on the border of the Lot et Garonne and the Dordogne, also known as the Perigord Purpre or the Purple Perigord, named after the color of its wine, for this area has the largest wine region in the south west of France.

Referred to as "The Tuscany of France" you will be stunned by the beauty of the rolling hills with many castles around (there are about 1000 castles to be discovered in the Dordogne), the bastide towns with its lovely farmers' markets and the Dordogne river floating gently through it all.

In combination with some relaxation at the gite you will find that the area is very much able to fulfil your needs for some culture or a nice stroll on a farmer's market. Taste some wine at one of the many wine chateaux in the neighborhood (there are also a few organic ones).

The picturesque  towns of Eymet and Ste Foy la Grande are only a short drive away.

The lovely town of Bergerac - 20 minutes away - with its beautiful old centre, its cobbled streets and not to forget Cyrano himself.

Bordeaux - one and a half hours away - will ensure a lovely day out with its finest restaurants and art galleries.

In many places you will find access to the Dordogne river or to the Garonne with possibilities for a lovely walk, a picnic on its banks a boat tour or even a whole day of canoeing.

If after all this, there is still space for more, choose an evening out to taste the regional goodies on a night market, play golf on the nearby golf course, visit one of the many brocante markets and find yourself a little something and of course you have to try one of the many "fêtes", that the local villages are famous for and of which there are plenty to choose.

Prices include breakfast.

Dinner is optional at €15 per person,
€10 for children between 6-10 years
and €5 for children between 1-5 years.
(Vegetarian meals possible).

Minimum stay of one week for July and August outside that period 3 nights.
 

September special offers

Accommodation 2-person tent €425 per tent.
Accommodation 4-person tent €500 per tent.
Individual travellers €200 per person (max 3 persons per tent).
