The layout (originally three separate units) gives a degree of privacy for large groups who can organise their own separate identities if so desired eating together on the veranda. Small children are safe with fenced garden and gates that lock. The sand garden is ideal for buckets and spades and a small paddling pool for cooling off. In mid season the house divides into three units each with its own gate and well screened. This is the perfect summer house for surfers, beach lovers and those simply in need of a complete rest in the seaside resort of Montalivet.
The Beachouse is a 4 minute walk from the beach and a 2 minute walk from Montalivet’s huge everyday market selling everything from Mexican hammocks to foie gras. The best oysters come from Arcachon and are served every morning at Montalivet market. The nearest supermarket is within walking distance. Mysterious Medoc is probably one of the regions least known to the English. Unlike other areas of France the forests and countryside are accessible to all with hundreds of kilometres of cycling tracks and well sign-posted footpaths. Montalivet, retains an old fashioned, small scale seaside atmosphere and is extremely popular with the young due to its slightly "hippy" market and its relaxed surfing image. 22 bars and restaurants, clothes shops, surf shops, icecream parlours and every kind of entertainment are on your doorstep. Safe bathing strictly monitored by a team of lifeguards and a high street pedestrianised every morning and evening means you can relax in your deckchair knowing your children are safe. A supervised tree adventure walk in the forest is within walking distance as well as as riding, bike and quad hire, go karting , parachuting and paintball. |

There are courses in surfing and land yachting and lots of different events that come and go all summer. Plenty of live music in the evenings. A lively pub scene for young people with four night clubs (one with an indoor swimming school) are all within walking distance or a short bike ride. The Beachouse has proved popular with film and photo shoots. Last year Sweden’s celebrity chef Leila Lindholm filmed her tenth TV series here and used the house for her new book “Hello Cupcake”. Ideal for independent children and teenagers who like to do their own thing from time to time. The Hourtin-Carcans lake is the largest lake in France and a paradise for water sports and fishing. The Gironde has 120 miles of unbroken coastline with some of the best surfing beaches in Europe. |
