Local area

Le Gite is situated in the small bastide of Eymet in the Dordogne and is 25km from Bergerac Airport which is well serviced with flights from both Ryan Air and Fly Be and car hire is also available.

Eymet is very picturesque with many buildings in the square dating back to the 1200’s. There are several bars and restaurants surrounding the square where you can relax having a drink or two or a meal and watch the world go by. There is also a choice of 2 local supermarkets where you can stock up on your food and wine.

Throughout the year Eymet has the “Local Farmers Market” every Thursday morning where local produce is sold and during the months of July and August they also hold “The Night Market”, where you can enjoy Moules & Frites with a bottle of local wine “Al Fresco”.

Eymet town can be reached by car within a couple of minutes or a leisurely walk is roughly 20 minutes in which you can take in the picturesque surroundings and walk along the river which we have been told is stocked with black bream for the enthusiastic angler.

There are many walks you can undertake with breathtaking views over the countryside.

Canoeing, golf, wine tasting and horse riding all within driving distance if you get fed up with relaxing by the pool.
